ENGLEWOOD, Colo. - Denver Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said quarterback Trevor Siemian took a "big step forward'' in Thursday's practice as Siemian tries to work through a left (nonthrowing) shoulder injury.Siemian, who was held out of Wednesday's practice, threw in Thursday's practice as he took part in seven-on-seven work as well as individual drills.Siemian, who left the Broncos' win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers just before halftime, has said he expects to start Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

The Broncos hope quarterback Trevor Siemian will be ready to start Thursday night against the Chargers in San Diego.Siemian was not active for Denver's 23-16 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday because of a sprained left (nonthrowing) shoulder.He watched from the sideline as rookie Paxton Lynch made the first start of his NFL career and finished 23-of-35 passing for 223 yards, one touchdown, one interception and an 81.0 passer rating.
